Inspection Regulations

The Department of Labour in accordance with the Act, has established Approved Inspection Authorities (A I A) for the Electrical Contracting Industry, from within the Private Sector

These Authorities have met criteria set by SANAS, the South African National Accreditation Systems and are accredited by them.

The function of an A I A is to investigate non-compliant and dangerous electrical installations in the public domain, on behalf of the Department of Labour.

What is an electrical inspection?

An electrical inspection provides a thorough examination of your entire electrical system, ensuring all electrical wires, systems, and components, meet legal safety standards. The South African Bureau of Standards Code of Practice SANS 10142-1 is the code that all electricians operate under when examining your home or business and defines the parameters for minimum standards across South Africa.
